Update – DDoS Attack Mitigated
As of now, the large-scale DDoS attack targeting FTJ Media has been successfully mitigated, and our network is back to stable, normal operation. We’ve deployed additional protections, tuned our firewalls and rate limits, and hardened key infrastructure so legitimate users can access our platforms without interruption.
We will continue monitoring closely for any renewed attack activity, but at this time all core services should be reachable and performing as expected. If you still experience any issues, please try clearing your cache, refreshing the page, or checking back in a few minutes while our edge and CDN layers fully settle.
Over the past several hours, FTJ Media’s infrastructure has been hit with a large-scale, ongoing DDoS (Distributed Denial-of-Service) attack targeting multiple servers across our network. This type of attack is designed to overwhelm our systems with fake traffic, causing slowdowns, timeouts, and temporary outages for real users. We want to be transparent about what’s happening, what it means for you, and what we’re doing to fight back and harden our network going forward.
What Is A DDoS Attack?
A DDoS attack uses large numbers of compromised devices (often a botnet) to flood a target with requests, far beyond what any normal user behavior would generate. The goal is not to “hack” accounts or databases directly, but to knock services offline by exhausting bandwidth, CPU, RAM, or other critical resources. In practice, that means sites may load slowly, throw 502/503 errors, or be completely unreachable for periods of time.
How This Attack Is Affecting FTJ Media
This particular attack is hitting multiple entry points and services at once, including web front-ends, APIs, and other backend infrastructure. Because the traffic spikes come in unpredictable waves, users may see normal performance one moment and severe latency or outages the next. We know this is disruptive if you rely on our platforms for news, community, or live content, and we want you to know we’re treating this as a top priority incident.
What We’re Doing To Mitigate It
Our team is actively working on several fronts to stabilize the network and keep legitimate traffic flowing:
-
Tightening firewall and rate-limiting rules to filter out abusive traffic while letting real users through.
-
Leveraging upstream protections and anycast-style defenses where possible to absorb and deflect attack volume.
-
Monitoring live logs and analytics to quickly adapt rules to new attack patterns and IP ranges.
-
Prioritizing core services so the most important parts of the platform remain reachable, even under load.
You may notice occasional captchas, temporary blocks, or other protective measures while we tune these defenses. These safeguards are there to keep the platform available to as many real users as possible.
What You Might Experience As A User
While this incident is ongoing, you may encounter:
-
Pages timing out or loading more slowly than usual.
-
Intermittent 5xx errors or brief periods where services are unavailable.
-
Logins or media loads that take longer or need to be retried.
If you run into errors, waiting a minute and refreshing the page will often work as our systems automatically reroute or shed attack traffic.
Our Commitment Going Forward
Attacks like this are unfortunately a reality for independent and uncensored platforms that refuse to cave to pressure or censorship. We take that risk seriously and continuously invest in better resiliency, smarter filtering, and layered defenses. We’re also reviewing this event in detail to strengthen our infrastructure, tighten our incident response playbooks, and reduce the impact of future attacks.
Thank you for your patience, support, and for sticking with us while we work through this. Your trust matters, and we’re committed to keeping FTJ Media online, resilient, and harder to silence every single day.
